2009

March 12, 2009: Lesbians Transitioning to Parenthood

Danuta Wojnar PhD, RN will share her research study about lesbian couples transitioning to parenthood. One of our members went to a presentation she gave about this and recommended highly that we invite her to come talk to our group, so here she is!

Saturday, May 16th, 2009: LGBTQ Parent Panel

Our much-anticipated panel of LGBTQ parents share their experiences in becoming parents and as LGBTQ parents. 

June 11, 2009: Joshua Rodriguez-Peiser and Sue Peiser

Join us to hear Joshua Rodriguez-Peiser, son of lesbian moms, talk about his experience so far growing up in an LGBTQ family!

July 9, 2009: Laurie Colacurcio, adoption and foster care

Laurie will share with us about the adoption and foster care process at her agency, Lutheran Community Services Northwest.  LCS works with many same-sex couples and single people interested in adoption.

August 13, 2009: Using a Known Donor

Maybe Baby alums Jenny and Stephanie join us to share their experience using a known donor.  Their little baby joins us, too!

2008

June 12th: Foster & Foster-Adoption

Tina Alexander, Foster Parent Liaison/Recruiter, will present on foster care and foster adoption (we have PDF copies of her handout - email us if you’d like one).

Tuesday, June 24th, 7pm: Book Reading

Join Maybe Baby to hear Andrea Askowitz read from and talk about her new book, My Miserable, Lonely Lesbian Pregnancy at Bailey/Coy. You can learn more about the book here.

July 10th: Financial Planning

Financial Advisor Stanley Tse will be speaking for the first half of the meeting - come with your questions.

Monday, July 14th, 6pm: Single Parents' Picnic

We will be near the playground at Green Lake. Bring your own dinner and we'll have a picnic and talk while kiddos play on the playground. We'll be there for a while (until 8ish?), so if 6 is too early for you, just join us when you can.

August 14th: Second Parent Adoption Home Study Presentation

Curious about the second parent adoption process? Unsure about what the home study will entail? Adoption Services Director Jill Dziko, LICSW from Adoption Assistance & Home Study Services joins us to talk about the process and answer our questions.

September 11th: Legal Issues: Adoption, Second Parent Adoption & Domestic Partnership Law

Attorney and Maybe Baby member Betsy Hershman-Greven will be presenting on adoption, second parent adoption, and the impacts of expansion of the domestic partnership law.

October 9th: Planning Meeting

What presentations and activities do you want at Maybe Baby over the coming year?  Do you have other ideas for what you’d like to see happening?  Social activities?  Breakout groups?  Other events?  More presentations?  Fewer presentations?  Come give feedback and have your voice heard as we choose Maybe Baby’s path for the coming year.  **Also, it’s always wonderful if people want to help out with planning.  However, coming to this meeting will *not* mean committing yourself to helping plan activities.  The goal of the meeting is to ensure that we are planning activities that meet the needs and interests of the group.**

October 16th, 7pm: Maybe Baby Single Parents Meeting

**Location: Mosaic Coffeehouse in Wallingford: 4401 2nd Ave NE in Wallingford**

We will build community with current and prospective single parents, learn from each other, talk about any questions or concerns we may have, etc.
